types of paper

We have carefully curated our paper options and work with different paper brands. For this reason, there will be slight variations in thickness and texture of our papers. Since the options can sometimes be overwhelming for the couples, the artist will recommend the best paper and colors that would work for your Bespoke Invitation Suite.

*GSM stands for 'grams per square metre' and refers to the weight of the paper. The heavier the paper, the higher the number of grams per square meter – and, generally, the higher the perceived quality of the stock.

cardstock

300gsm Eggshell White Cardstock

This is the standard cardstock included in all our packages. It has a soft white color, warmer than the usual bond papers, and has a subtle eggshell texture. The 300gsm weight of this cardstock makes it feel premium and doesn’t look flimsy. The edges can be straight or upgraded to hand deckled. Also comes in 130gsm for a matching envelope and for printed envelope liners.

450gsm Cotton Cardstock

This is a very thick premium cotton paper with a watercolor paper texture finish. This can only be used and best for Letterpress Printing for a deeper impression, however, we cannot do a flat printing on this since it’s very thick, it won’t feed on the normal printers.

A 300gsm version is also available if the design needs a flat print, and also feels more luxurious than the standard eggshell cardstock.

180gsm Vellum Paper

It’s a thick, translucent paper (thicker than the usual tracing papers), best for overlay on an illustration page or as an invite wrapping. Can also be used for an envelope. Suitable for digital printing only.

Colored Cardstock

120gsm cardstock are suitable for envelopes and envelope liners.

240-300gsm cardstock are suitable for digital printing (light to medium color cardstock only) and foil printing. Letterpress printing may be done but the impression won’t be as deep.

450gsm card stock are suitable for letterpress printing only.

Other colors may be sourced as suggested by the artist.

handmade papers

Handmade papers are manufactured, sheet by sheet, by hand, rather than by a papermaking machine. Such paper naturally has the deckled edges (uneven, often fluffy edges) which adds to its charm. Due to its handmade nature, there may be slight differences in thickness, texture, and colors from each piece.

We source our handmade papers from several brands around the globe, and their characteristics may vary from each other. Unlike commercialized papers, handmade papers are often made in small batches and stocks are subject to availability.

The artist will suggest the best handmade paper to use depending on the printing type and design of the project.

Special handmade papers are also available like this one above, that has dried petals and leaves. These handmade papers are very textured, but also thin, and can only be used as envelope liners or invite wrapping.
